This thread is going to be for my to post art to receive feed back from you fine folks here in hopes to improve my art!
To start off I will be making a shield
Concepts Ideas and mood boards (mood board borrowed from a tutorial by Galen Davis)
Current progress so far with the highpoly will post an update later on tonight.

I think it's made of conceptonium - it's a feature of the tutorial video's shield.
@Dudealan. yeah i should be starting on the wood sometime today and will post progress on it when its done.
Once agian I appreciate you guys taking the time to help me get better and will keep chugging along on this.
Made some level variation the did some damages to the edges of the planks.
Will start putting in grain and bigger detail scratches Tomorrow since I got to go to work.

I wood love to see your wood with a bit of separation along the grain like this guy's ^
your Iron / Steel looks like someone perforated it with a grinding machine to make those flat surfaces, but actually they are done from smithing and are the cause of a hammer, and that would leave a lot smaller dents, unless youre the hulk and have a sledgehammer ; )
Also its kinda a mix of flat surfaces with sharp edges and soft edges, because the hammer hits the hard edges aswell and softens them up
@Dude I plan on doing something like that for the grain which I will be starting on today and post progress sometime later hopefully.
@Shrike So I will add some smaller dents to the metal bulk as well as see about softening up some of the edges on it to give it a more hand forged look.

Next step will be to start putting scratches and sharping the wood grain up
carved out some deeper grain and added scratchs to the shield to represent sword or blade damage.
New heavy damage to the wood is looking nice too.
But here it is finished and rendered out with some help from one of my friends for the Marmoset render.
@Bek+Mr. Significant for the metal I used a layer of noise in the surface modifier then used trim dynamic to knock it back then playd with the layer strength. The metl on the front piece used a similar technique instead of noise I used the Alpha that Neox linked me and used Orbs brush for scratches and fine details.
