Want to start character modelling

Hello all,

I've been having fun and learning to model hard-surface objects with 3ds Max for a few months. Now that I've gotten a little familiar with 3ds Max, I thought right now would be a right time to try learning to model characters/creatures.

It would be greatly appreciated if any could recommend me with any software to start with, any tutorials (book, videos, preferably youtube), and anything I would need to know about character/creature modelling. :)

Thanks !

Start with a good anatomy book, a copy of zbrush, and if at all possible get a pen tablet, either Wacom or if you're short on money then a monoprice.

Also, just like sculpture artists spend time getting their armatures right before they model, spending time getting a decent basemeshing together with proper topology can only help.

Also post on polycount, lots of great character artists around here. Good luck.
