parenting isnt working

when you parent the small circle to the big one
and move the parent, the bigger circle
the smaller one is supposed to move in accordance with the bigger one right
thats the way parenting is supposed to work right?

why doesnt this seem to be working?

Depending on which issue you are having with improper child movement, you may either be moving all of the sub components of the parent (which doesn't technically move the location of the object, as the pivot point remains in the same spot) or you are moving both the parent and the child simultaneously, which causes a stacked transformation to occur with the child.

Pretty weird, I did a quick test and I have the same nodes. Everything is working how it should. When I select the parent it automatically selects the child and I can move both. However when you select the child, I press the up arrow key to select both parent and child.

Check the transform attributes of the nodes, perhaps you've inadvertently checked off the 'inherits transforms' flag?

That would be 'Preserve Child Transform' ticked on under the move options

maya very flexable with 10 ways to do everythign, but that also means there is 10 ways to fuck up everythign too.
