dynamesh is heavily influenced by mesh scale - i hope like hell that whats happening to you doesnt mean that there is ANOTHER fuckup with scale between 2 versions of zbrush......
Most likely the scale of the mesh like Hazardous said. I personally haven't noticed a difference between dynamesh results though, or any altering of the scale when I import my assets.
Also the project option is pretty useful. It's not overly important when you're just trying to create a simple basemesh, but if you're trying to merge things, boolean, etc, then it's a necessity.
thanks guys, i checked my floor and its tiny so my scale is large but when i exported it to 3dsmax its pretty much 10 units high, hmm i'll do more experiments but this is a step in the right direction. thanks!
Well what i did was export the mesh as an obj from 4R5 and then imported it to 4R4 to compare. Does the scale change when you import it like that? to my understanding, it shouldnt...
Check your export settings, some file types allow you to scale while exporting. Also if you import something as inches and export them as centimeters that might mess stuff up too.
i never messed with the export settings when it came to measurements, so its always been default. i'll change the size in zbrush 4r5 and make some tests from there. thanks man!
Use the 3dprint exporter plugin. click update size ratios and take note of the values. Do the same in 4r4 then 4r5 and let me know if the values are equal. If they are different - spewing.
Essentially before... i think from 3.5 to 4.0 they messed internally with scale stuff - not so bad for the individual, but for a company with hundreds of ztools upgrading to 4 - and opening an old ztl meant it was dozens times larger than the old one - ie try to open up a file and rebake some normals become a pain in the ass task to fix!!
You can also use this plug-in to specify what resolution you want your Dynamesh at. It turns off Projection by default and will rescale your mesh (temporarily) if needed.
