First zbrush sculpt - wooden cross

Hi! Yesterday i opened zbrush for the first time and started playing around with it, made a simple wooden cross using techniques i found on different forums. Would love some feedback!

This was so fun to make and i cant wait to get better!

Great start! The wood grain could be more pronounced. Also I see you tried to break up the straight edges a bit. Take it further and add edge damage (cracks, etc. where the wood has splintered).

My goal was to create a believable wood material, was hoping to get ideas on how to improve it

Thanks a lot! I'll definitely try some large cracks, and generally make it more detailed

Something is wrong with your edges. I don't know what's going on with the lumpiness on the wood itself though. It's making the entire sculpt seem soft instead of hard. For hard surfaces try and stay away from the smooth brush. I would make the wood grains more deep as well. That will help them stand out a little more. Hope this helps!
