UI graphics?

Does anyone know of any websites or tutorials or general material just for UI graphic design? Some places with challenges around UI for games/other things? Are there such challenges ever within Polycount itself? I searched a bit but I couldn't find anything.

So let's talk about UI!

Every time one of these topics come up I always kick myself because I said I'd take the time to put some more information together! Haha.

I put some things on the Polycount wiki a while ago which might be worth having a look at: http://wiki.polycount.com/CategoryUserInterface

As far as tutorials go; you'll find loads of stuff on general UI design mostly related to Apps and web-design but hardly any on games.

There are of course engine-specific forums like UDK/Unity where you'll be able to find some loose topics on the area of UI for games but in comparison to what has been documented for 3D/Concept etc, there's hardly any information - which is a shame.

Thanks imyj! That's great stuff there. Too bad there isn't much on UI design for games. I've found loads on websites etc. but info on games seems scarce.

Do a search for "iphone design patterns" or "mobile design patterns"

Mobile design is a great resource to look at for ui design, as its about getting as much data usable in the smallest space possible, so it is a good place to do research.

I've updated the Wiki with the links mentioned here and added a few more. I'll do another pass on the wiki today

Out of curiosity... if there were video tutorials or something similar, what would people find interesting? What kinda topics related to Graphic Design / UI for games?
