Is there a way to strip a model of its (background) data?

Sort of like when you run a photo through photoshop. It can strip the image of all its background data (gps location, date taken etc).
Can you do something like this in 3DS max?

i would have to ask, why than after that would tell you that you know formate like OBJ, and maya's MA are human readable editable in a simple text editor like sublime 2 or even notepad.

To shed some more light on my problem.

I'm having a problem with some of my models not exporting correctly to the Crydev engine. Some of my models are displaying the textures correctly while some are not.... I figure there's some kind of ghost data floating around.

I could have sworn there was an option under the Utilities menu that did this... maybe I'm mistaken.

I'm using the non-commercial license. The latest build 3.4.3. I'm also using the older exporter due to the latest one being buggy.

    of what 3d package?

well either way of it is just a mesh, no bones and stuff
export obj, create a new scene and import that back in, should kill everythign but basic mesh data.

And what do you mean by not displaying correctly? Like, wrong texture shown on a model, or right texture displayed garbled or distorted?

I get the big red Replace Me texture on some models and not others.

Here's an example of what's working and what's not.

Object_Node_1 = Is showing the correct material in the Crydev editor.
Object_Node_2 = Is NOT showing the correct material in the Crydev editor.

Now, when I grab the geo from Object_Node_2 and place it under the parent of Object_Node 1, the geo displays the material perfectly. When I parent the geo back under Object_Node_2, I get that red Replace Me texture.

I'm thinking it's something to do with the nodes...

    Okay, figured it out.

In case anybody finds this thread and is looking for help:

I had to delete the nodes that were displaying the improper material. Create a new node in its place and reparent the existing geo. Looks like some of my nodes got corrupted. No idea how or why.
