Faulty obj

So i had been working on my character model in 3ds max, I was UV mapping it. I exported .obj because I wanted to open it and tweak it a bit in maya.
I saved it, closed max, and restarted my computer. When I came back, I tried opening max. About five seconds after i click on max, it gets an unexpected error and crashes during the bootup.
Now I think this has something to do with the MODEL i was working on.
The .obj is 95kb, so there is definitely data in it, and when I try to import it into maya, it imports as 0 triangles.. just nothing. However i can import anything else.
Importing the obj into milkshape results in an immediate crash.
I sent the model over to a buddy and confirmed that he recieved the exact same results in maya/milkshape. He didn't try it in max for the fear of it messing up like mine.
I am not too worried about the loss of my model, but I can't open 3ds max...
Can anyone give me some advice?
