Retriangulate mesh\Surface

I have created a game level map in LightWave 9.6.
It's a cave map. My issue though is that I need the level map to have uniform distruction of the triangles\quads.
What do I mean?
When creating the level some of the polygons might be bigger than others in the same level, some may be longer and etc.

I want some tool that takes the current mesh and recreates it to have the same form but with a different topology.

I was told this can be done on 3D Studio max. The issue is that I only have Lightwave9.6 :/

Any suggestions? Is it clear what I am trying to do?
