How do I get Max setup for my standards.

Sorry for the noob question, but how do I get 3DsMax to a default setup that I desire? It seems like there are all these weird check boxes setup all over the place that I have to constantly reset. (example= in the material editor there are all these architectural presets, a checkbox for real world size etc.) I un-check them, but they reset once I restart.
Any tips and tricks to get Max into a game modeling setup would be great...

Save the scene in the default folder as maxstart.

I'm trying to save it here:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds max 2009\Defaults

Is this correct? I'm not seeing any changes.

Nope, it should be in the Documents folder.

With a blank scene loaded it should take you to the scenes folder if you attempt to save. If not like Ace pointed out there is a scenes folder in my documents, you can also create a scenes folder in the same folder as the 3dsmax.exe and save a maxstart.max file there also.

Okay, thanks for the help so far. I did what you guys said, I made a quick scene with a blank box in it. When Max starts, it defaults to the new scene with the blank box. However, I tried changing my material editor to show a default multi-sub object. The thing is, it keeps reverting back to the old architectural templates when I restart.
Do I need to save a separate material editor file as well? How?
