Help with 3dsmax cloth material modeling

For this image, i was wondering if someone could teach me how to make the cloth looking material on the handle

i would love if you could provide images or a clear guide on how to do it

I just extrude and snap the vertices on the surface the cloth stays on.Max has snap on faces too.
You need to sculpt it after you finish the base, i can't help you with that...but it's very easy.
