Hey Guys, Here is a build I've put together. I am a complete novice at this, so was wondering if any of you vets could check it over for any problems or compatibility issues.
This is going to be used almost solely for 3d/2d work. 3dsmax, photoshop, zbrush primarily.

Ends up being around $1,700 with 2 monitors included
I have to get all of this in Korea so some of the choices were limited (
www.danawa.com). This is also the reason for the strange prices hehe.
Thoughts on it are much appreciated and welcome.

I would suggest taking a PSU with a bit more power, 500Watts is the minimum for 560Ti, maybe push it to 600/700 just to be safe, something like:

And I suggest taking a good CPU cooling, stock one is really sh**, plus, well, less noise and less heat (a hell lot ><)
I built 5 computer using this one:

Cheap, but performs really great (25/30°c idle, 50/60°c full load with an overclock), a bit noisy, but still less than stock solution But just one thing to keep in mind, watch out for the height of it, make sure it can fit in your case!!
As of the SSD, I had an OCZ one (Colossus LT if I recall...), bought it like 2/3 years ago, was a 3.5" SSD (2 2.5" 64GB SSD combined in sata0, which made it 120GB), really cheap, really fast, but damn... I really regret spending that much money for it >< It broke a year after... It was one of the first generation of SSDs, so maybe that it's better now, I don't know... But I'd rather buy 2 sata3 hard drive and put them in sata0, almost the same speed, but you get more space.
As of the monitor, I bought a 30" monitor (2560x1600) and... damn, I can't work on a smaller screen anymore, it's a great investment in my opinion (it's like buying a cintiq, you can live without it as long as you don't try it ).
It's expensive as hell so maybe you can take a look at the 27" 2560x1440 one? (remember, 2560x1600 is about 49% more pixels than 1080p)
Computer case: Take a look at this one:

One of the greatest of all time (and the CPU cooling I suggested fits inside ^^).
It has only one fan, but you can add more if you want. The only "downside" is that there are no 2.5" bay, but you can buy a 2.5"->3.5" adaptator (if that's the right word?).
CPU is a beast, hard drive looks good (don't like green 5400rpm things, but I heard it was like 99% as good as Caviar Black so...), motherboard looks good also (always heard good things about ASRock) and GTX 560 Ti is one the best GPU available for this price (and it performs quite good for gaming ^^).
One last thing, remember to get a DVD drive, can be useful if you have to install windows . . .
Thanks for reading, hope it was useful
But it's such a pleasure to work on now. It's so great when reopening Photoshop takes around 3 seconds -- and with that much RAM, I never really have to close it anyway.
Glad to hear the mobo and others are looking good. I will probably pick up a dvd drive at some point in the near future, I just don't ever use mine atm so it wasn't a priority for me. I have an external one that I can use to install windows. Thanks again man.
Thanks for the input Butcher, glad to hear that the psu should be sufficient.
Glad to hear it's running nicely Elyardine. Can't wait to buy the thing!
They recommend 500W, but you know, if you want to be safe...
Then for the cpu fan, take it, less heat = better longevity plus it doesn't make that much noise (compared to the one you have in the retail box), I tried it on an i7 980x two years back, went from 60°c idle to 30°c >< With it you can even do some overclocking, like, add 0.5Ghz for basically nothing (but you'll need a better PSU to be safe ^^).
Even if you don't want to overclock: less noise, less heat, more cpu life etc.
For the case, I didn't link it for the look ^^ simply that I built 3 computers with this one, was really easy, and the Hyper 212 EVO fits inside When choosing your case, just be sure about that, else you'll have a little surprise when you'll build the system ^^
If you want to check some benchmarks, go to guru3D.com and their forums, great source of informations you have there Try to get some informations on the motherboard, I'm not 100% sure (tend to always go at the highest end for it since I want the best stability/performance possible). ASRock looks ok, but, damn, your 2600k deserves better (I guess. Maybe this model performs really really good, idk ^^).
One last thing, check prices drop on SSDs, it looks like they are finally going down a bit. Same goes for the hdd, it's slowly going back to where it was some months ago (before the flood in thailand).
And btw, you're welcome ^^
Thanks again!:)
