Those spikes add a lot of noisy detail, but their form is pretty repetitive and sticks out a lot. You might want to tone those down. They're going to cost you an arm and a leg when it comes to your final polycount. I prefer the way it looked in post #4 or the original concept.

Another thing you could consider with the spikes is exaggerating them a bit more- they're all kind of similar in size/positioning, as well as the teeth inside the mouth.
