I can't seem to use the Maya bridge tool

Hello, just started modelling this week, pretty new so I apologise in advance for any silly noob stuff. Anyway I was working with this tutorial, and everything seemed to be working fine. However whenever I try to bridge these two objects together:

It returns an error message saying that the edges selected are not equal and selects these specific edges:

I've checked and there doesn't seem to be any hidden edges/vertices in the way, and I'm wondering why it isn't working. If anyone can help me out with this I would be extremely grateful. Thanks!

I've found Maya's bridge tool to be kind of wonky at times. If it doesn't work for you try just extruding from one of those groups of edges and using the Merge Vertex Tool to draw and snap each vert to the other side.

Shouldn't take more than a minute with that small number of verts.

When the bridge edge tool didn't want to work for me id use the "Append to polygon tool"

A friend of mine Who's learning Maya also has trouble with the bridge too. Its like that tool just loves to give hell to new users or something

i agree that the bridge tool is iffy, i am not even sure if it can bridge one then two edges together at one time... anyways iv always found it safer to do it the way Norron mentioned, or to bridge the two outer edges (top two then bottom two) which would leave a hole, select a edge in that hole and use the fill hole tool, and then going in and split polygon it to what you need... i usually use that method if its a more complex fix

Yep, it's never worked for me either. At least not after 2010, if I recall correctly. I've gotten into the habit of extruding and welding. Pain in the ass.

Bridge needs four edges and a closed mesh to actually work. Append polygon tool is faster

Agreed, I've gotten into the habit of welding though. Bad habit, I suppose. Is append not in the quad menu then? I just see it up on the top bar.

Hey Stradigos, its under the shift right click marking menu but only when in object mode.
