Maya bend deformer not working properly

Trying to bend a tire tread into a loop to fit around a wheel, but instead of bending it into shape correctly it's just offsetting each half

Any idea's as to why its doing this?

Have you tried deleting your history before applying the bend deformer?

Yeap, i've tried deleting history and frozen transforms on it. Still no luck

try rotating the bend deformer so that it's running along the same axis as the treads
