Sup gents, i have been sitting on this for quite some time now. I finally decided to work on it more and finish it up and hopefully use it as a game prop on a little something i am planing on making for you game lovers out there.

here it is.

stock and pistol grip need more hard edges, they look like goo

i tried to find some references to confirm but i couldnt really get any solid ones that i could match to the rest of the body for scale. but i think the rear recoil spring guide (that little piece on the back of the receiver cover) needs to be a bit larger

id say you arent quite ready to move on yet. it looks like the only real thing of interest in this is the magazines. you need to put that much love and care into the rest of the gun. your safety lever for example looks SUUPER flat. it needs to come out some to give some shape and silhouette to the model. the stock doesnt look like it belongs. it needs to go with the shape of the gun. your floating indents need to be deeper. they barely show any beveling at all and that will reflect in your normal map. you may as well model those in. i think it would be easier.

ok thanks Oniram... my only question is what u mean the Stock does not look like it belongs? i dont know how to make it look like it belongs to the gun... if you could do a paint over or something to help me understand your point a little better... and im working on everything else you pointed out... i was feeling like the only thing interesting was the mags... will add some more stuff now. thanks...

I think what Oniram means is that where the stock meets the receiver doesn't match. You have the rounded edges of the stock against the square shape of the receiver.

See how the stock and receiver share the same shape where they meet? I think that's what Oniram means.

little update... worked on the Butt and just wanna get some crits on it...

A scope!

From first person view an AK is pretty boring, but one of those weird cobbled-together-looking russian scopes is always a good idea.

@n88tr: yeah it is... not very original but just tried adding a little to spruce it up... will be adding a scope like EarthQuake suggested and maybe will be adding a laser on the side or button of the foregrip..

Maybe the 1p29 would look better? it would be a lot more interesting and unique from a fp perspective imo.

Hey guys, since mystichobo said i should put the 1P29 Scope instead of the Leupold scope i have been looking around and came across the Kobra Scope. and i cant decide weather making the Kobra or the 1P29 anyone wanna help with votes?

1P29 can't be mounted on AK-47 , because they didn't have a mounting bracket from left side - this feature was for newer Ak's like AKM/AK74

I see you modeled that AK-47 rail for scope's , so for you the Kobra red dot sight will be better for you ,but Kobra with weaver mount

I can't really find anything wrong with it? Are you going to have the grip be like the reference image like what Camza posted? Or are you going to add some more detail like the image that Mystichobo posted? I personally think the latter one would be cooler. But it's up to you.

i think what's making the handle come off as a bit gooy is the base, i'd flatten it a bit, currently its too round. The edges seem fine but the overall shape of the bottom needs flattening off slightly. But overall looking really good

Looks good to me. The handle actually looks like an AK handle, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Give it a good texture and it'll be alright. Too much nitpicking just for the sake of it imo - at the beginning it did need to be worked on, now not so much.

Great model but here's one thing to consider. The pins that go through the receiver.

Your model has one pin right above the trigger and one right above the magazine release. So far so good, but you also have one about half way between those two. That pin is actually a selector switch stop. It physically stops the selector switch from moving past it, on the outside of the gun, and thus it is only on the right hand side of the gun. It doesn't go all the way through the receiver like the other pins do.

You can tell by the two indentations below the selector switch that this is a fully automatic AK. The top indentation is the full auto setting and the lower indentation is the semiautomatic setting. (The switch is currently set to safety in your model) If it's going to be a full auto AK in the game (and why the hell wouldn't it be?) it's missing a third pin through the receiver. The third pin is slightly lower and in front of the one above the magazine release

It's harder than I thought it would be to describe this in a little comment box. But I hope it it's helpful or at least gives you a better idea what to look for in your reference photos.
