weird streak

Hi guys,

Im new to polycount and hard surface modelling.
Im having this weird streak when I smooth my model,
any suggestions on what im doing wrong??

Basically since the mesh isn't flat and shaped like this _/ (less extreme but its visibly bent and not flat) there's a bunch of wires at either side its going to have a tight bend, if you want it to be a smoother bend add more edge loops and tweak them.

It isn't a flat surface and you have a hard edge there i assume.

im not quite getting what u guys r sayin,
basically I want both those two extrudes to be like that whn i smooth it but that streak comes into place and how do I remove it??

It is because of how close your edgeloops are in that one area. It that surface is flat, you can turn on edge constraints and slide the edges that aren't holding the shape of your extrudes away from each other to get rid of the pinch. It is hard to tell what shape that is with the screenshot being that close up. A different screenshot of the surface so we can see what kind of contour it has would help.

Is this panel straight or curved, the bottom looks curved but the top looks straight in the screenshot. Also, your extrudes are one edgeloop off from being the same length. Is that intentional? If you made them the same length (ending on the same edgeloop) then you could get rid of one loop and that would be a start to fixing this problem.

In general, whichever package you are using, if the surface is curved at all and you have a close group of edeloops, you will get an edge like this.

whats the best way of extruding faces,but then keeping the faces with sharp corners when smooth. Im seem to get addicted on adding multiple edges towards the corners is that right or is there any other better way

You need support edges like that, but you want to use the minimum to hold your shape and you have to be careful about your edgeflow if you aren't on a completely flat surface.

cdevens, so how can u get a sharp extrude, becuz when smoothing it becomes circular, so adding closed edges make it sharp when smoothed

The closer the edgeloops, the tighter the edge. The problems occur when the edges that aren't on the extrude, but on the flat surface, are close together and cause pinching like on your screenshot. You can space the edges on the flat area out more to get rid of the pinching, but have the edges merge closer near the start of your extrude.

but if i dont have the outter close edges the five star point causes pinching horizontally

basically you are sliding the edges out, but leaving the points that are holding your edge

whats the better way of sliding edges so that I wont make a weird bump on the surface???
is there anyway of moving edges fixedly across the flat surface so u wont pull an make a crease??

you can use your constraints. Use edge constraints and select the edges you want to move, they will slide along the perpendicular edges.

but now im getting that weird slided face and not sharp corners around the extrudes

You just move the extra edges, not the ones touching your extrude. You will have two very angled edges like in the pic I posted. You have to leave all the ones that are holding your shapes. Also, add the extra horizontal edges from the pic so you can move the edges without affecting your extrude.
