When you go to take it off does your head get caught in the neck hole causing you to panic and think the world just crashed... because UVW does that to me every time I try to close it.

I used to like it until I thought they where going to overhaul it and fix all the broken bat shit nuts things that are wrong with it, but then didn't...

W is the third coordinate for mapping. You usually don't edit it, as textures are usually 2d, but it's useful for a couple of things (raising overlapping bits above the rest so they render correctly for RTT/baking, certain shaders, etc. You can also store a lot of data in that channel for other reasons).
