Help with game industry entry
Im looking to be a game designer and I need help getting into the game industry. I want to start as a game tester so if you have any suggestion on how to get a first gig, and what to do.:poly142:

But if you want to be a game designer then... design a game? There are loads of free/cheap ways to go around making games. Working in a mod team is often good for team experience as well.

Just saying with no disrespect to anybody, but people just keep asking the same questions and getting the same answers around here in a deluge of new threads, I'm sure everyone here would like to cut it to just threads asking "specific queries regarding things the sticky don't/can't answer.

QA = Quality Assurance which is a game tester.
UDK is widely used and has the added bonus that you can freely download it.
As far as being a designer, game design predates video games by about 1,000 years - so design a card game or a board game that's fun and balanced.

Trolls troll by asking for help these days...
Trolling used to mean something.
If you want to do environments study environmental modeling texturing game engines etc.
If you want to do characters study anatomy.
If you want to program start out at the polycount programming thread under technical talk plenty of awesome resource there.
Level design is a mixed bag and probably requires you know a bit of everything including how triggers work scripted events etc...
I'm sure some vets here could point you in the right direction....
