Google Image search is a virus/malware haven.

Has anyone else come across this? I've used google image search to find references and I click on a few image links. Its almost gauranteed everytime now, that if I'm lucky I'll get my anti virus come up with blocked website. Or I get that your computer has a virus and then it attempts the faux scan and then tries to download a virus onto your computer, and you cant close it down except by killing the whole browser.

I also had one that managed to crash or disable my anti virus completely.

So google image search is worthless theres so many virus/malware now its stupid(random web search is probably worthless as well).

The sweet irony is that usually looking for, erm, Anatomy References for the human body will NEVER EVER net me with a virus, while looking for something as simple as a Wallpaper for an old game such as Legend of the Dragoon will fill up my PC so hard that it will feel like a triple cunted hooker being slapdashed by sausage rolls.

Not that I would know anything about that mind you...

Download NotScript for Chrome. It will fix your problems.

Noscript if you're using FireFox.

Never had a problem with this, I have a custom hosts file for blocking this sort of crap though. A nice bonus of this is you get no adverts, it really speeds up browsing.

Yup this happen to me earlier in the month some new shit It seems, get Malwarebytes cause once that sucker is in It's hard to get out cause It disables every .exe I managed to do some trickery and get into the task manager and killed It without restarting cause god only knows what will happen after that.

You got to delete reg keys and everything, It's pretty bad, installs some fake security and pretends to find a lot of Trojans on your p.c. but looks like It almost installed that entire list or horrific shit.

Host filed and NoScript Now, Host file owns by the way if you don't want your chick on any meeting sites

I uninstalled Java from my machine and things have gotten MUCH better. Oh and custom host file works really well.

Will try that noscript nonsense.

Yeah, getting it too. The annoying thing is that the thumbnails are loading just fine - but then, clicking on them to go through that new annoying preview popup can cause all kind of weird stuff to happen. 99.99% of the time I just want to access the image itself and not the page, so I wish Google could simply safely cache the pics for safe access.

yeh that shit is fucked up, it makes really hard to search for ref, half the time its a fucking malware or LET US SCAN UR PC, fuck that. Very very annoying.

Maybe there's a greasemonkey script to help with that, but I haven't searched for one yet.

I usually stick to flickr nowadays for reference.

Yeah this happened to me 5 times on Sunday night while looking for reference for sand. I'm going to try Noscript and use Cooliris a lot more now.

Yeah, I used noscript for Firefox for a looong time, and it saved me from tons of grief. Using Chrome at the moment with NotScript installed as well. Sure, you need to activate scripts all the time, but its better then enter the wrong site without protection.

I've been using Bing for all of my reference usually and it's been fine as far as I'm aware. Just start using that instead of Google.

Interesting, I rarely have this problem. The few times I had it happened is when google chrome interrupted the connection telling me the website was considered unsafe. I only had my virus scan step in once or twice.

I use NOD32 and Malwarebytes, what do you guys use? (Just want to make sure my "security" isn't letting everything slip by because they are to stoopid to catch them.)
Either I'm lucky with my search results or I'm getting screwed over by my software

edit:
Installed notscripts just now, wasn't to sure if I should install it or not since it's one of those add-ons that has access to everything you do on a website. But since so many of you suggest installing it, peer polycount pressure I guess.

Thank you. I've been looking for ages for the Chrome version, but none of my searches came up with anything.

I thought Windows 7 was supposed to have stopped this sort of thing with its "does not allow to run without users permission". But of course the main culprit the browser(the weakest link) is the one that doesnt get fixed.

Glad to know its not only me though, have to get onto Google to fix this.

I picked up some malware while researching some processes running on this borrowed computer.
The neat trick is that the malware that it also managed to drag in another malware piece that hijacks links from search results (mostly from google) after you actually click on them. So heads up on that. I ought to look into this Notscript business now.

The great about noscript is that it will stop from everything loading which aren't part of a standard basic HTML design, this mean flash players, music players and even interactive ads.

To put it in easier terms, if you click on a picture, and you get taken to a website in which it appears like a blank page (literally white or black) then chances are, it's not an actual webpage, for other then propagating the malware, this is IF noscript is enabled.

If it's an ACTUAL website which has content instead, you'll just see bits and pieces missing which can be very easily allowed to be shown.

Honestly, noscript is a life-saver...
