Favorite figurative sculptors of modern day

I'm looking for good figurative sculpture work and would love to know any favorites you guys have. I don't have very much exposure to this type of work so I just want to see more.

Example: I like Richard Macdonald's stuff and also digital artist Gio Napkill's recent stuff from his blog.

If you ever get a chance to see Mueck's work live, you HAVE to go! The sense of scale you get from the pics just doesn't do it justice.

Why restrict yourself to modern day stuff? There's still a ton to learn from the likes of Bernini, Michelangelo and Donatello.

Still, the stuff that's already been posted is pretty freaking sweet.

I LOVE jordu's work, and his attitude is awesome as well. If you've never listened to the NERDCast, you should seriously check it out. It's the funniest, most artsiest, nerdiest cast ever.

Simon Lee IS amazing. Again, a great artist, and a great guy. Gave me some custom images of his Butterball (since I can't afford one), so I could make a lowpoly version. Great critiques too

Philippe is unbelievable... Get his dvd's if you can. I use them as a ref resource all the time.

I like Clay Moore's work, but his attitude toward digital is pretty infuriating.

The Shiflett Bro.s kick much ass, and have a Gnomon dvd or two as well. Very down to earth, cool guys who know what they're doing

Takiyuki Takeya, The man that made Japanese garage kits awesome. Until I saw his work, I thought all Japanese monster and character designs looked like they came out of a Godzilla movie from the 50's. Seriously. Look this dude up

Gabe Perna, VERY stylized, but fucking amazing work. I think he did a version of Nightmare from whatever fighting game he's from...

Casey Love. Helped with the life size Illidan sculpt for a Blizzard event. Not sure if he helped with life size Kerrigan as well, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Martin Canale, amazing comic character sculptor.

That's all the ones off the top of my head, that inspire me. Hope that helps

you won't find much of his work at all online. dude's a big time low key hermit. but for my money there's nobody better than jamie beswarick. if you ever get to sift about weta workshop where the place is littered with the clay sketches of his and dave meng ( also a favourite ) . . . man. hurt feelings
