Sculpting on a cintiq 12

I am looking for anyone who has experience sculpting on a cintiq, could you tell me if it feels better then using a intuos?

Is it worth the 1k? Thanks.

I didn't do much sculpting on the 12wx while I had it, but I loved it. The screen was too small for me personally, but after sculpting on a cintiq I haven't been able to go back.

but, I've had no reason to even try to go back. it feels so natural.

also; I'd check ebay. You can find 12wx's practically new for 600-700.

I don't think it's worth it ergonomically, its biggest advantage is its biggest flaw. Drawing on the screen.
Your either going to strain your arms or most likely your neck and a later on nodoubt your eyes.

I found after using one that I prefer an intuos, altho its awesome to use and the notion is attractive it's still very different to the feeling of control with a sketchbook and the difference in the ergonomics of a sketchbook is that pencil sketches are what 15mins avg, where as digital easily clocks up hours in a bad position.

mod books look cool aswell, a cintiq with an OS. but I bet its the same when it boils down to it.

Use the money to get a really bitchin intuos is my opinion lol.

I have a Cintiq 12WX and while I love (LOVE) using it in photoshop, I still use my intuos for zbrush.

There just isn't enough space on the screen to use zbrush effectively in my experience. I find that while Zbrush is definitely best used with a tablet, it also needs to be on a large monitor.

I would save for the 21 or stick with the intuos.

I used to use a 21UX for photoshop retouching and a little personal painting.
I have been using an Intuos for more than 10-12 years at that point and I just couldnt get over the fact that my hand was in the way!

As soon as they come up with invisible hands, I'll buy a nice big Cintiq.

Oh, I should note that I do sometimes use the cintiq as a screenless tablet. If you truly can't decide, Wacom offers a 30 day no-questions-asked return policy. So you could always try it out.

I use my Cintiq for sculpting in Mudbox and like it a lot. The screen on the 12wx is not that great.

I've used Wacom Cintiq product 15x which is an obsolete product now to be honest. I had to buy a cheap intuos 4 because i couldnt come up with 2k because back then people were all about 21x although I personally prefer 12x. So, If you know how to use it and you are an experienced 2d/3d artist, cintiq 12x/21x is the product for you. The only difference you'll find while using intuos 4 and cintiq is that. You'll eventually have to get the smudge resist for your cintiq and change the sheet of your screen once in a while depending on your useage, and you dont do that while working with intuos. So I strongly suggest not to buy it even if the product is legit and epic, unless you feel absolutely sure that its going to be worth your money in terms of usage.

No doubt its a best equipment an artist can have but if he isnt a pro or at least a good artist, its not worth his money.

I've got a 12x and I'm not a fan of the size of the screen at all. 1280x960 resolution and the actual size of the screen mean leave me feeling rather cramped.

I use a 21 at work and just ordered myself a 21 that will be with me in a few weeks. To me, it's seriously a life changer. I find it hard to go back to using 'just' a tablet. I don't really notice the lag most people complain about, either because I use lazymouse a bunch or because I would rather that than the disconnect from desk to screen. I also hold pens weird in general, so it's not uncomfortable for me (I hold pens in my right hand like a left hander holds theirs normally - so I've been told - making like a club hand....which sucks for normal drawing because i res tmy hand on the surface...but is AWESOME for a cintiq because my eyes are under my hand, more or less, so I don't get cock blocked.)

To me, it's the same as upgrading from a mouse to a tablet.

For 12 though - i have no idea. I assume it would have the same effect but needing to deal with a smaller workspace...which could be a pain....

Love it, no doubt a 21 would be better but it's comfortable enough for me to sculpt with.
