3dsMax - Chuggernaught UV scripts

Anyone have chuggernaughts UVscript? I was trying to use the workflow described on jesseMoodys site here: http://www.artbyjessemoody.com/

But I can't find the chuggernaught scripts anywhere.

Do people just not use this workflow anymore, how is that that these scripts havn't been re-hosted?

Will they work with 2011?

they are very old but I remember someone porting them to make them work with 2010. Quoting myself from a archived thread:

Good luck with it, also check scriptspot for any other scripts in the future - there are some great hidden gems there.

Can you not do the same thing with the pixel unit transform floater in TexTools? Just select all the islands and half the w or h.

I think it's called chugnut uv tools but at any rate I think the TextTools UV script by renderhjs here on polycount (who replied to you) took the place of it for a lot of people. There's a link to it in his sig.

oh wait a minute is this about converting to a non sqare map? I actually wrote a script in TexTools that simplifies that a lot, its similar to how Photoshop's extend canvas works:
texTools3.5_extend_uvs.jpg

All it adds is a UVW modifier so its easy to undo. Its under tools and then 'resize UV Canvas Size'.

renderhjs - How do you get to that Extend UV's Canvas box? I must be thick, cause I can't seem to find stuff with textools.

BTW, after you resize the canvas, is there a way to make Relax take the new ratio into account?

Its under tools and then 'resize UV Canvas Size'.

Don't with the relaxing, test it yourslef - not sure how max handles relaxing with non square ratios.

Ohh... dammit. I was looking at the Tools menu of the Edit UVW menu. Jesus. I don't know why I'm being so thick when it comes to finding stuff in Textools. But I didn't realize there's a tools dropdown in Textools itself. Awesome.

And about Relax. Max just Relaxes stuff as if it was still a 1:1 ratio.

I don't really know why it does that. Seems like the Relax goes off of a 1:1 ratio no matter what. In this simple cylinder I set the size to 256x512. It looks fine if you scale it manually, but after a relax it looks like this.

I have Chuggnutts UV tools at work, as far as I know it's completely erased from the interwebs. I'll upload when I get back from Christmas. Can't live without it.

Not completely erased, just tweaked by various people.

For future searchers... Steve Johnson (www.chuggnut.com) wrote the original script, then Diego Garcia Huerta (www.sloft.net) upgraded it, then Amit 'SmartDevil' Singh (fearthedevil.com) upgraded it some more.

Note: UV ToolBox 1.7 is an older version of renderhjs' TexTools...

totally, we had some great and hidden scripts here over the past. Lots of community request driven scripts and stuff thats really productive at work. Maybe a small section with how to use scripts and done
