Help Regarding Value
Ive found that i am able to fake the idea of shapes, but i can never get the correct value. I have yet to find any good tutorials on this, so im asking here.

Telmac, its simple, break things down into planes and establish a value ramp. You can see how things ramp up by doing studies in photoshop with an eye dropper, and histogram.
As form turns away or towards a light source the planes will be shaded lighter or darker. The darkest planes are always shadows where the light is blocked.
Also, never forget bounced light it will often deltue your darks.
At the end of the day, for most of us artists, its about communicating some aspect of the form. Not simulating reality.
Keep that in mind and practice lots!
