Chris (Geezus) hopefully you weren't affected by this
Aye, I was affected.
I really love RSE and Ubi, it's a shame to have to say goodbye to so many talented developers and friends. 'Twas a fun 3 years, atleast. Such is the life of a Game Developer these days, eh?
That really sucks, I was up there the other day doing some play testing and everyone and even the studio were really nice. I wish the people that got laid off find work quickly. Also, I have been hearing about people getting laid off left and right in the game industry. As a simulation and video game student is there hope for someone that is going to be out of school within the next year and a half? Hopefully its just a phase and the industry will pick up steam again.
Chris, I got your back as well as a lot of other devs. We will make sure to let you know as soon as a position opens up here, it would be awesome to work/see you again buddy.
ah thats super lame, best of luck finding work man, most dudes who have worked at red storm usually have pretty pimp folios from what ive seen though, so I doubt you should have trouble. it really suck with all the layoffs all over the place recently, super deja vu of last year this exact time. what a load of ballsagna.
On the serious note: Sorry to hear for those who were laid off..
One of the reasons why I dont take 3d / game arts not too seriously but go with the flow, because I have the feeling that when I am completely in to 3d stuff, there wont be any jobs and I may have to start something on my own.
Damn. This type of news never stops surprising me. Hope everyone lands on their feet. I gotta make some phone calls, I know at least two people there who may have been affected...
is the part about "these team members have the opportunity to consider positions in other Ubisoft studios," true? It's still shitty, but at least it's something.

Indeed, they've given us a list of opportunities throughout Ubisoft. Unfortunately, I doubt many of us are wanting to leave the states. But, at least it is something.

We need a memorial Wall of the Fallen just to keep track.
Spug, you know I loves you!
Tough times for everyone affected, but I'm sure we'll all bounce back. On a side note, anyone in the market for a house in NC?!
Best of luck to all those affected by this.
The games industry as a whole is growing. But when you hear about all the layoffs that seem to be happening everywhere, it doesn't seem that way.
Good luck to anyone affected.

Come to Canada man! Work for UBI in toronto, then we could go grab some drinks.
