Hey Bcos, glad you've come out of hiding. You're off to a good start, so I've got some tips for you.

The first thing that will help you is to start doing some studies of realistic anatomy. Doing stylized anatomy can look great and be a lot of fun, but it has to be informed by a clear knowledge of the source material. Even as a stylized bust this piece has a lot of proportional and anatomical issues, such as the shape of the lips (too thin even for an old man, and they should protrude at a softer curve), the shoulders and taper (or rather lack thereof) of the eyebrows.

Also, it looks like you're working too close too early. You have a lot of detail that's laid on poorly formed overall structure. Keep that brush big and stay zoomed at for as long as you can and then some and it'll help you to capture more of the overall forms better.

On the color side, Human skin is a combination of red, green, blue and even some yellow, and you can catch those hues even in very dark complexions, what with skin being translucent and allowing you to see shades of all your colorful internal bits. What you have here is a dominantly brown tone with a little bit of blue but that's about it, so it ends up reading more like bronze than human skin.

Good luck man, and keep workin and postin.

Haven't posted in awhile, School's been pretty nutty this semester. Here's a few screen-grabs from a UDK environment I'm working on in one of my classes.

I would love some C&C on this. I have three weeks remaining to work on it and want your opinions, all of them.

Wow, awesome work! that roof looks amazing and the water! nifty! I'm also liking the rays of light coming in on the interior, nice effect. One thing thing I could think of is in the bookcase, seems like you put a lot of effort into there and its too dark to see much. And the shelves look like there is a seam where you stacked them. I was thinking maybe a torch or something to a light the area more, and also cover up the seam. If torch is a bad idea (just thought fire plus books aint good) you could cover up the seam with a sign, like in libraries how they categorize all them. maybe roman numerals? Just thoughts, awesome work tho!
