Hey all, I really hope there isn't an existing thread on this but I just noticed the Max retopo plugin WrapIt has just been released.
I remember seeing some vids from the beta a long time ago and back then it looked pretty incredible, granted some other options are offering very similar things but it has some pretty neat looking features, and a bargain at £35 I think!

The branching feature alone is worth the price tag.
the second this guy started retopoing this dinosaur... literally, the first words out of my mouth; S,T,F,U.

if they keep creating tools like they have now, they'll kick Nex in the bunghole hard, especially with that price tag! yeah they're app specific, but that will make the Nex people whine... wait... yeah, MoP is a perfect example of the point I am trying to make here.
The good thing about this is that you don't need to add another app to your pipeline, you can do it within max.
Well I'll be... I've been using Wrapit for a while now and had no idea about the branch feature. That's awesome. I suck. Haha

I'm a retopo noob so I might be missing something but from my experience this blows away all other retopo apps/plugins/scripts by a mile ( minus the Max exclusivity ) I don't know why they don't just combine it into a single standalone app. I'd buy this over Topogun in an instant even if the price was slightly higher.
Very impressive plugin. For £35? Have a word.
There's zbrush for HP, LCSM and other unwrapping magic for UV's and now this for LP, but all of it is only really good for organic stuff...
Please tell me there's something like this for Maya?
(j toggles that terrible bounding box, by the way)
so for example, you set your distance to 0.1 and carefully position your polys to match an eyelid, then later on you might want to set your distance to 0.5 to more easily retop broad large shapes, but doing so will ruin all the precision you put in earlier
Hi,
You can always lock the verts you are happy with, and when you change the distance spinner they won't budge.
Thanks
Matt
ouch, whats with the relaxing going on all over the mesh?
I'd guess it'll be a big hit. Looks pretty damn handy.
Yeah same here, I can't help hitting J on collegue's keyboards when I see they have the bounding boxes activated. Most of the time they don't notice the difference and just look at me funny.
Don't worry, that's simply because I was doing a global relax in between each edge extension, no other edges would move otherwise.
Yes, during the lengthy beta Wrapit has been used in production at many games houses, including Id Software, Codemasters, RockStar, Firaxis, Blizzard, Rocksteady and Bungie.
Amen, thats one of the first things I do when I reinstall max, create a maxstart.max file with that disabled, and poly count shown.
It looks really cool, would love if you could get an hardedge version of it, but I still think it would work quite well with a lot of things, just to make the base mesh. When I get some spare money I might get that.
