I ask this because my sister got a job there( we're from Romania).

As far as she can tell everything is in order. But i'm a bit worried as i've heard a lot of girls going in exotic locations jut to find that it was all a hoax or worse.

The job she got is in Sharm el Sheikh as a hostess of sorts, a tourist animator ( a person who hangs around with guests and takes then to clubs, scuba diving , teaches them to dance and have a good time).

What i wanted to know is if any of you know about any girls who got scammed or the like.
I mean how safe is it, should i allow her to go ?

I know a number of people who have gone to work in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. If Egypt is run anything like those countries then I would recommend against going.

It is very likely that the take home pay will be far lower than advertised. Her working and living conditions will likely be worse than she is expecting. She will be at considerable risk of being exploited on the job and having her passport taken by her employer. If anything does go wrong, the local authorities will not be helpful and her embassy will want nothing to do with the situation.

On the other hand, I dont know what your family's financial situation is like. Plenty of people do find that the rewards (meager as they are) are worth the risks.

    * None of this applies to people with real qualifications. If she was a doctor or an engineer she would probably have a great time, make lots of money, and have a great life experience.

if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true. I would call your embassy in Egypt and ask if they had any complaints about the said agency..and find out what her rights are (if any) if she were to get into trouble..Unfortunately in some countries women are treated more like cattle than human beings ( I don't know Egypt so don't know). No amount of money is worth her freedom..

    Just don't.

Nothing is worth such a risk. If you want an ugly story - I don't want to it write here. But you can PM me.
I suggest you'd rather just forget about it. You have all the EU around you, so I can't possibly see why you would want to go there.
Hope everything turns out nice for you.

Nope. Don't let her go. I don't know what your situation is, but a friend of mine from Holland told a similar story of her friend getting a job like that and getting her passport taken.

yea this sounds really sketchy. the movie Taken springs to mind, not that real life is like a hollywood movie, it can be much worse. 99% of the time anything thats too good to be true, usually is.

    Hey Mime,

I am from Egypt. That has been going on a lot with girls in the past few years or so. My cousin got a similar thing but for the states and such. Do not rush into it...see how Legit the company is and what they are paying. Do you need a degree to work? Is it immediate/urgent?

One thing I do not understand is why would she toss herself all the way over to Egypt from Romania? Be safe than sorry. Things aren't what they seem nowadays unfortunately...

Egypt is great and we are known to be the most hospitable country out there. Do your research. I personally say it isn't worth it. Girls will always be girls and need protection no matter where you are from. Your life isn't worth a few extra bucks.

If you got any questions let me know.

She is expected to take guys around and show them a good time? That sounds suspiciously like an escort/prostitute position. And going along with Mazvix' comment (need protection), this is a fairly common attitude in that area. If girls are not being watched over/escorted by friends/family, they may be considered "fair game" and will be given little legal protection. She could be victimized with little recourse on her part.
