[Max 2010] Selections Now showing

I opened an old file in Max 2010. Now, when I have Smooth+Highlights and Edged Faces also showing my textures, when I select a poly or an edge, I get the XYZ-Gymbal, but the faces don't turn red. They do in Wireframe Mode though. The edged don't turn red in the first mode, and they don't in the second either.

I have looked everywhere. Anyone know how I can fix this? It's disorienting to not truly know what you have selected.

Hi, this is a very very long shot: try pressing F2. It toggles selected polys highlight.

no. i was having this exact issue. i dont know about any fix. i just went back to 2009. you may want to check out 2011.

Rooster: That's crappy that is the only solution you found. I mean, it doesn't do this on my other, newer models, just this older one.

try right clicking on where it says smooth+highlights and go to Lighting and Shadows. Make sure viewport shadows are turned off, also try turning off hardware shading and see if that makes a difference. Make sure your video drivers are up to date and check your DX viewport settings.

AlecMoody: Alight, I did those things, now my polys get outlined in red when I have them selected. This is -better- but, still not how I am used to them turning solid red, hiding the texture and getting semi-transparent when selected.

But... I suppose I can work with this.

So... you wanna know the problem? LONG ago, when I made the file I had a duplicate copy of the mesh over the one I was working with. MAN I feel SO dumb.
