Home Artists Looking For Work

Looking for the right artist

I'm an experienced game designer (several paper games, several kids' games, and Prince of Destruction) and developer trying to get back into game development after being in "omg it's twins" land for the last couple of years.

This is the kind of style I'm going for, but I need it to be WAY fewer polys. More importantly, I need it to be done by someone else so I can concentrate on code.

I've got two iPhone / iPad games (written using Unity) stuck at the art level with the code in fairly advanced state. The big problem is ME -- since I'm trying to do the art and programming. I'm looking for an artist to partner with on these and future projects -- the person I'm looking for would want to be a creative partner with a view to being something of an art director moving forward (i.e. managing other artists and giving everything within a project a consistent style).

I'm happy to pay by the hour, on a project / quote / milestone basis, or profit-sharing, or some mix of the above.

Please contact me and provide a (non-Flash, preferably) website link or attach some kind of portfolio. For an idea of the kind of style I'm going for right now (and which is subject to change -- I can be persuaded) you can take a look at these web pages...

Manta is essentially complete -- it just needs a major terrain makeover, but it needs to run on an iPhone / iPad, which means low polygon count, low texture count, etc. I've actually redone all of the vehicles shown in the demo and they're all much better, although they could also stand to be replaced or at least get a visit from the texture fairy.

Here's the Project Weasel design document (which includes a lot of napkin sketches and early screen shots):

As I said above -- I'm looking for a partner. If your immediate reaction to this stuff is "this looks like ass, I could barf up better designs" that's fine -- if it's true!

Note that, at least as currently conceived, Weasel and Manta have very different art styles. Weasel is cartoony while Manta is hard edge high tech -- this might mean I'm really looking for two artists ... Another possibility is to redo Manta in the Weasel style and make it part of the Weasel "universe" (Manta has no back story -- it's "kill the aliens, avoid getting killed").
