Ok, so I know ive seen alot of these threads before, but I cant seem to find them again. Since its come the time I must set up my webpage, what does everyone use for web hosting and domain names?
I just bought a domain and hosting through GoDaddy about a month ago. Its my first experience with doing my own website, but so far it seems pretty reliable. Excellent customer service as well.
I just transferred my domains and hosting over to GoDaddy. It's much better than what I had before, which was netfirms, who were terrible. Overpriced, under-provided.
dreamhost, ive been with them for years and there is always an awesome promo code out there for like 20 bucks a year with a domain reg free and unlimited bandwith/ 200gb storage or something like that.
GoDaddy is suppose to have good service, but I found them to be more expensive that most of the other hosts (for the hosting service). If you go with them though, check revision3.com and look for discount codes. GoDaddy is a sponsor of theirs, and offers many discounts to viewers.

Edit: oh... and I see you!
Been very reliable for me so far.
I'd also highly recommend Dreamhost. When doing web work I had over 30 domains with them.
Also Bluehost obscures my Whois contact info, giving me a bit extra privacy (when I'm not broadcasting it).
NearlyFreeSpeech, pay as you go. It usually comes out to, like, $5 a year for the average portfolio site.
