Decent gaming headset/audio recording

I'm looking for a decent headset that I might use to record audio for tutorials with, too. I just want to have pretty good speakers so I can listen to music with them too, and nothing too expensive, what do you guys suggest?

I just picked up a pair of Razer's headset last night for the same purposes. So far so good:

A little pricey and might be out of your price range, but I use these and they're hands-down the best multi-use pair of headphones i've ever had.

The microphone quality is amazing, and the sound quality is pretty damn good too.

If its that amazing I may have to get it. I was looking to spend $50-70, have they fixed the high pitched problem?

I wouldn't go with any of those.

I would either get turtle beach or triton... probably turtle beach. I tried them at PAX east and they were godly. Even the cheapest ones were sick.

That is just me. Once I get money I'm gonna get me a pair of them.

Definitely good quality, I have that headset and don't regret it in the least. Just some advice, as soon as you get it. If you are using an OS other than XP - so if you are using vista and later, upgrade it's firmware, otherwise after approx 3 hours use it will turn into a mickey mouse darth vader machine. You have to unplug and replug it in to get it to work.

But if you upgrade the firmware - zero problems, mic is great quality, their really comfortable, and the fabric on the padding is really nice - not that fake leather rubbish that makes a person sweat. They are also really really loud. My volume rarely goes above 20%, and that is enough to drown out the background noise - as these are close backed already. Their also light so they don't weigh down on your head, and their not overly loose, or tight. Fit quite nicely.

Can't go wrong with these in my opinion.

ps they come with x-fi built in, so once you plug it in, it will over-ride/disable any hardware or onboard audio devices on your pc - only while plugged in though. It also works nicely for capturing your voice in camtasia.

Ive got these babys. Speedlink medusa 5.1
Dont even think about getting them.
Theres no working drivers for 5.1 and microphone when operating xp64.
The foam padding falls of the shells pretty often and is tricky to get back on.
5.1 and microphone quality was amazing on my 32bit os but like this it aint worth much.
