I want a new desk
One that won't make me sick
One that won' make me cramp my feet
Or make me feel like a shrimp
I want a new desk
One that won't hurt my arm
One that won't make my mouse too spry
Or make my eyes too red
One that won't make me bummed out
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm renewed
When I'm feeling all around blue.

Buying a new setup soon. Still haven't decided between a laptop or another desktop. I do know I want something different to work on. This basically is a computer cart is long since past been conductive and is just frustrating. Its small side to side, so I have to put keyboard above my tablet versus to the side, and have half the mouse pad leaning off the side. Plus its on a kitchen like floor so I deal with the squeaking of my desk chair wheels across the surface plus the subtle shift of the desktop itself.
The big one is I still want it ultra portable and able to be disassembled into small parts that aren't heavy for when I move around. I live very light and cant afford to cart large desks. I usually rent a uhaul van when I move for everything I own. So no gluing or planks of pressed wood fiber (IE IKEA= BAD).
Suggestions?

I wish I had the metalworking experience to fabricate something like these and mash it with a racing chair. The price on these fuckers is stupid. $3,000 for $300 worth of material (just a guess). They do kick the shit out of a typical computer desk/chair set up.

Ive seen that before, and can you imagine what it would encompass to take that apart and put back together each time? (And costs more than a laptop desktop replacement=unfeasible for poor white trash.)
8FtSpider, those are some crazy looking workspaces, looks more like an arcade racing game!
It might be fun at first but what about when you want to get up and get a cup of tea/coffee or run to the toilet when your bladder is about burst?
I have a ikea metal desk that's going on strong. Can't say for the cheap ikea desks, they chip like nobody's business when your moving it around.
Would buy another ..if I needed 2..
convert now or fall forever

I got it in black and then bought out all the local staples of their little tiny cubby parts of the set, so my desk really does look like an apothecary desk will a million drawers. The thing is intimidating looking now.
Ugh! No. Can you imagine what hell that would be to move and the weight? Im being totally serious when I mentioned that originally. Thanks though.
Either way, think of all the little cubby drawers you'd have!!!
but yeah, it's not very portable. It is built modularly though.
That's my desk from Office Depot. It only cost about $100 or $200 if I remember and it's only held together by 12 or so screws.
I used to have the cheap Mikael ones posted above too (black desk with the white beam), its nice and inexpensive but!! If you are tall you will HATE the white thingie. You'll bump your knees in it all the time.
The cool side tho, is that it is so lightweight it makes it easy to customize. I had one with a curved edge to make it more like a rounded L desk, that was cool! However if you use an Ergotron, the torque force will ruin it. Good for regular monitors tho.
Use 80/20 aluminum. All you will need is a chop saw to cut it and hand tools to put it together.
You can always build your desk. I built mine from some 2x4s and a sheet a 3/4 thick Baltic birch. Home depot cut everything in my order so all I needed was a drill and some self taping wood screws. The total assembly time was only marginally longer than assembly required furniture.
If you want it to be easy to disassemble attach the critical pieces with large washers and m3 bolts so its can come back apart

but im using the T shaped legs, a lot better imo. thing weighs a lot though, i carried it on my back to move it around.
fits a 32"tv in the corner, my desktop on one side, and my laptop on the other.

Sorry couldn't resist.
I find my working environment more comfortable the less I use it. By this I mean getting up and moving takes the pressure off a lot of joints and muscles. Think of it like your couch sitting on your carpet for years, if you don't move it every once in awhile you're going to leave some horrific dents.
