Hey guys, I wanted to know if this is possible in 3ds max in some way?
Basically, I have two objects in a scene, and I would like one of them to be occlude the other resulting in a 'cutout' alpha when rendered.
this image may better illustrate what I'm seeking to do

is there a way I can set up a material or something to achieve this without actually cutting out the geometry? any help is appreciated!
EDIT: I know I can do this in photoshop, but I'm looking to render out a massive amount of assets this way, and i'm just hoping to find a way to do so on a render level

I think Matte/Shadow defaults to capture shadows which can be a pain if you want a solid knock out so be sure to uncheck "receive shadows" in the material properties.
