Thanks guys! I'm glad someone got a kick out of these. :D I still think the original character textures from Quake 3 are some of the best to study for hand-painted work. Kenneth Scott just rocks my socks off! I hope to reach that level someday. To that end, I shall be abusing a few more Quake 3 characters. Soon! :poly130:
All the scene is inside CryEngine 3. I only used photoshop to increase a bit the contrast and the usual tweak but any other painting inside. Expect for the texture work ofc.
Amazing thread is amazing!!! My contributions :3 Just weapons so far :D And my Raziel. Might revisit my Raziel's texture as I've learnt a lot about hand painting stuff since...
Awesome, you finished it! :poly142: I like the color scheme especially. I feel the fabric could stand to look a little more like actual fabric. Very nice rendering, regardless. :) Just for kicks, you could pack that up as a Quake 3 skin and submit it to the Worldspawn archive. :D!
Oh, I remember that! Bobo's Bunker model from the 24-hour skinning challenge. You should finish that, it looks cool. And the best part is, you can still export it to work in Quake 3. :poly108: The game-ready version of the model can still be downloaded here: https://ws.q3df.org/model/bunker/
I finally finished the WIP I posted a few pages back! It's a skin I created for the Mynx model from Quake 3. Please note that I didn't make the model, it ships with the game. You can download it here, in case you would like to play with it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2167961/q3skn-blackrose.zip
I just started working on a new skin for Quake 3. This time I'm tackling the Mynx model. Note that the model is not my work, it ships with the game. I blew up the texture for clarity's sake. The actual resolution I'm painting at is 256x128. The weird stretchy part you see on the flat texture is an unwrapping error that I…
