I was wondering if I could pick your brains on something. One of the things I always really struggle with in HP modelling is insetting details into subdiv geometry. I noticed here: That you seem to have your inset geometry seperate from the mesh it's supposed to be inset into. What's going on there?
That is looking great! You're really putting a lot of detail into it, and I like the way you blocked it out first. How do you add floating geometry that appears to be inset into the geometry below, as you have done on multiple models? I've seen the technique a lot on Polycount, but I don't understand how it is done.
Feanix: they call those 'floaters' or floating geometry. It's basically just a completely disconnected piece, but in the bakes it'll appear to be inset.
