goddamn thats a cool idea.. ditto on the mini tut! edit: ps can you share a little about your render settings in the last couple shots I like the look a lot
sltrOlsson: No problem mate, I love getting good critics and that you took the time to do a mini-tut is awesome :) Will redo the welds and I have done some other sculpting, expect a update soon :)
i had that mini tut for a while but i never managed to get the snap thing to work either. like eric said, snapping in max has it's quirks and the snap to face stuff has remained uncharted territory for me.
nice work as always! and congrats on Blizzard thats awesome! Any chance tho, on a mini tut or explanation on your render settings on your cars and other vehicles. Of course if you'd prefer to keep that to yourself I would understand.
Just above this post is a stickied post, linked here: Sticky: FAQ: How u model dem shapes? Hands-on mini-tuts for mechanical sub-d AKA ADD MORE GEO Also, be specific and post pictures.
Hey Jonas, despite my earlier crit I think we all could benefit from hearing how you went about texturing :) You mentioned using a lot of gradients, any chance of a mini-tut anytime soon?
Did this character to test out a technique for making hair quickly. Entire hair cut took just 40mins instead of the normal stupid amount of hours it takes me to get alpha planes looking ok. Step by step mini tut thing....
Hmm, when I arrived here (not to long aggo) this was THE THREAD for me :) FAQ: How u model dem shapes? Hands-on mini-tuts for mechanical sub-d And if you don't have decided for a app yet: Free or low cost 3D and 2D apps
I would definitely start with this then do a quick painting pass on it to liven the texture up a bit. The filtered look I can live with, but its really without intent other than 1 basic colour and some wood shapes. Nice little mini-tut.
Awesome stuff thus far, really is inspiring. Would you mind giving a quick mini-tut on how you make the low-poly from the high, as well as your settings for when you bake the normals, i'm assuming in Modo? Keep up the awesomeness!
