the size and amount of textures doesn't really effect performance. the amount of materials and the amount of batches/draw calls that will result out of them does ... the fewer draw calls the better ! so try to use as few materials as you possibly can without fucking up your own work flow too much.
Scale/size of the object is the largest factor here. Use Dynamesh master plugin, as you can dictate a rough amount of points, rather than a mildly arbitrary amount like "resolution" slider.
the amount of AAA titles i play is very few and the amount of titles i finish per year can probably be counted on one finger that said... i play a fair amount of indie games that seem better suited to our/my generation... shorter more interesting and varied and more fun less stress.
Well i agree with the apps background and not going for a crazy amount of polys and i also agree with you that ZBRUSH is 32bits but it can use infinty amount of ram inspite it is 32bits :)
I don't really get the libertarian SS hate - the amount of good it does outweighs the amount I pay into it. Do you think taking that money and saving it for retirement is better?
man, I love this thread so much. such a crazy amount of attitude and character, just doesnt seem fair. I'm calling hax on this, all of this. gratuitous amounts of badass lol
