Looks like the first bit of UI enhancements are coming through. Tabs, finally we can start seeing some embrace of convention. https://twitter.com/tonroosendaal/status/408889980363108352/photo/1
Ahh cool...i was a little scared for a second :P Its a shame that they feel Silo has matured...i remember the 1.xx cycle with updates every other week. Its really is a shame :/
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyEHE_LIIvM&hd=1[/ame] There's going to be a free version of this with restrictions, but I'd really like to see see Blender have this functionality... it's really missing a good, integrated crowd simulator.
I've suggested before that a kind of 'safezone' would be nice here, where you can never got to the point where 1 pixel makes the difference between a thin bevel (or whatever, every tool suffers from this) and shooting off into space.
One last thing. When I create an edgeloop, sometimes my "Factor" setting is set to 1 automatically and I have to change it back. Not all the time, but sometimes. Why does this happen and how can I avoid it. I would like it to be on 0 all the time unless I tell it otherwise.
passerby: totally agree, I've been writing some scripted operators to make things cleaner, like combining cut and subdivide into 1 command, making delete context sensitive...and so on. might release em once I get some time (lots of big deadlines atm :()
thanks, sorry for all the questions but I'm missing a lot of stuff I was used to use x_x Another one I've just noticed is, I would often select a bunch of edges or faces and then press ctrl+1 to convert the selection to vertex or ctrl+2 to convert the selection to edges etc..., how would you do that in blender?
To those interested in User Interface and the ongoing discussion regarding the changes needed for blender's UI...Andrew Price has released a video discussing the very subject. ya i think the 3d cursor should not be on either mouse 1 or 2, using up useful mouse keys, and in almost all cases i set my 3d cursor to the selection, or center, use the shift+s menu. so they could just add a new entry to that to put you in a mode for manually placing the 3d cursor.
