Heres a link for the fbx: https://rapidshare.com/files/3675931479/scifidoor.FBX I included 3 meshes. One base without the cut, one base with the cut, and the inset piece. Tonight I'm gonna give retopologizing the inset piece a go, I think I could simplify the bottom part, which is causing problems. Thanks so much for your…
You could try taking the cap of a cylinder with x # of edges that you want, usually 6 is good. inset the cap, and then bridge edges. I think thats what its called in max anyways. Inset on a curved surface. I do the same thing for complex surfaces, just requires more adjustment of verts and edges to make it fit. Its not…
Having trouble with the chamfers on this truck cabin. I start from a cube, chamfer or bevel all 4 edges of the cube, and then try to inset for the window, inset for the driver side window... but then I realize, it's really hard to control my bevel loops, subdivision, and get it to look like the truck cabin from the…
I was wondering myself some time ago if this might be an issue when baking normals? I ended up subdividing that inset cube once to get an 8-sided cylinder to extrude.
yes ofcourse use quadsphere instead of sphere, interestingly when you use the cube inset method, and use spherify the highlighted line below is not actually a circle, ive compared it with a sphere in top view
i would make a cylinder of apropriate sides, then inset one top to the radius of the smaller one, extrude it, then select every second face of the cylinder and collapse them. then just move it so i get a slope.
I have a really Dumb Question :/ If I have a Cube, how is the best way, to get a hole or circle like inset in it (I'm working with blender)? I hope, this question issn't to dumb. Regards, pr1mus
