The following are the final models in hlmv.
The Zinger
This is the First-person view. As you maybe be able to tell, some parts of the model are in the wrong place. I would have reanimated the medic_arms to work with it but unfortunately there is no 100% sure way to decompile a tf2 mdl's animation.
and here is the third-person view (kudos if you get the reference)
The
I included a list of names in the readme that was submitted. Here is the first-person.
Third-person:
And finally
The
also a list of names in the readme for this one as well.

Third-person:
The animations for this thing are blend animations, in the source engine these are controlled by code. The tri-cannon has three; one is a spinning animation(similar to the wheels for the hl2 buggy), One grasping animation(this one is done like the hl2 buggy's suspension animations), and a syringe animation(exactly like the ubersaw's)
Syringe animations
Grasping animations:
I think I'm going to take a break now and go play tes4
Oringinal post starts here
I'm new here and plan on working on medic weapons. If there is a theme I'm using for this it would probably be "things you wouldn't want to be impaled with". sorry for my lack of concept art, I prefer to draw it on paper and I don't have a scanner. Well lets get started!
--- Syringegun replacement ---
I don't have a name for it yet but i have a well defined concept. this thing incorporates design elements from WWII weaponry and old sewing machine parts. I want it to have that "heavily customized" feel to the weapon that all Teamfortress 2 weapons seem to have.
early renders:
still in the early stages, I'm thinking of redoing that rail at the front of the gun or scraping it entirely.
--- Medigun replacement ---
As right now I'm calling this thing "The Tri-cannon". The best way I can describe this thing is a mean looking contraption made out of surgical tubing and syringes. I haven't started modeling it yet.
--- Bonesaw replacement ---
still working on this one, surprisingly its been the hardest concept to come up with so far.

You could add antique sewing machine-esque designs to the gun texture to make it stand out even more.
quick update:
Syringe gun final mesh(unless you guys think something should be changed):
Triangle count: 6,511
I'm halfway through the UV now. The blade gave me an idea for some names
though.
Warzenschwein(German for warthog)
The Puma (Red vs Blue reference)
Zinger (A play on the Medic's German accent and singer)
I'll leave you all to decide.
hooray!
EDIT: if you're going to have a bayonet-like blade, why not make it scalpel shaped?
This.
Just bolt a scalpel blade onto the front. Exaggerate the bolts.
not finished with the texture yet though, but as you can see I've already baked the AO and normal.
well here it is in hlmv. I have changed the wood to look less red and lighter, but I'm having a problem. For some reason every time I export the smd, 3ds max crashes. I've been using this plugin since its been out and I've never had this happen. I'm using 3ds max 2010 32 bit and the 32 bit version of wunderboy's smd plugins. Any idea as to what could be causing this?
I really like strap on the back but for the rest of it I'm not too sure about
You guys tell me what you think.
The ubersaw uses a blend animation that shows more of the team colored part as the medic builds more of an ubercharge. I did the same thing for the plunger in this melee weapon (which took about 4 hours of trail and error .qc editing and a quick check of the valve dev wiki to see what I was doing wrong)
and the zinger is ingame now( albeit the the first person animations are abit odd)
And yes that engineer was the death of me.
wow..um I need to read chat more often...yeah that was me. Small world huh?
Name ideas for the melee-
Skewer
Inside Out-er (turns enemies inside out)
Organ Piercer
Trypanophober (trypanophobia is fear of needles/hypodermics)
Hypodermic Horror
Excruciation Extractor
Gut-Sucker
The Mummifier (sucks all their fluids out)
or the Mengel-um. (Josef Mengele reference lol)
The Euthanizer
I call it the tri-cannon, but if you think you've got a better name let me know. The model isn't complete yet, just a few more things I need to add.
possible tri-count is scaring me though...
The other weapons are looking great but I'm wondering how the melee will work with the current animations as the spike is a lot lower than the bonesaw / ubersaw blade.
As for the melee weapon it works great in third-person, as for the first-person animation it looks alright with the idle and draw animations and the crit swinging animation.
You could reference Zelda by calling it the Triforcer
Mythical multi-headed dragons with the Hydra
Another mythical name Medusa (multi snake heads for hair, one of 3 sisters)
Hekate (was a 3 headed goddess http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hecate)
Trinity
Triage Trumper
Fate (there were 3 fates in greek/roman myth, and could give Valve an idea to have 3 effects you can choose from/randomly get on the medigun's uber)
Ghostbusters refs-
Protonbeam Pack
Ghost Booster
The Stream Crosser
—Egon Spengler on crossing proton streams
Merge all lines on the red dots (or make the front three merged and leave a higher level of detail closer to the player, where he can see it.)
Close the gaps on the wires (looks like there's the actual wiring coming out, you can probably remove that detail since most of it is obscured from view.)
Close that tube and make it separate objects, that will save a good deal of tris.
on the end, depending on first person view, you probably should keep it. but again, first person view >
German for three is "drei"
or perhaps a triple alliance pun: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Alliance_(1882)
