Yeah! Really cool idea and really looking forward to finishing this piece and watching you guys make awesome art. I decided to go with Kratos

Do you guys have any ideas on where to scrape off some polies?

P.S: And yeah I ripped spaceys technique for lowpoly hands and bobo's material

yeah update! i got rid of as many polys as i could (without losing the silhouette) which was pretty hard, but i tink i managed

what d'ya think?

EDIT: oh and the blades are actually 148 tris

Looks pretty good. If you haven't, check out screens of GoW for PSP. I'm sure their specs are higher, but it could give you some ideas.

Here is a quick color blockin+some basic shading. it's really hard working at this resolution, since he is very a-symmetrical

(the eyes are only 3 pixels!).

another update:

i think i'm almost done now

one problem though, i noticed that the "real" model doesn't have those shoulder pad-thingies... (the action figure does).

I think the blade looks confusing

you might be better off using the 148 tris to model the blade instead of using a texture to define it's shape.

I think you're ok with an alpha for the blade, but the texture could use a little less variation/texture in it so that it reads better at that pixel density. Just try and make it cleaner. (or add tons of blood?)

thanks guys! it bugged me too, but since he has 2 blades, they each only have 150/2=75 tris. and the handle has already used that much so i can't model the blade itself. maybe i could make it a 64x64 texture and put it in diagonally? would add a bit more pixels.. too bad i can't use one step higher, so 256x256 for the character and 128x64 for the blade, that would be ideal for me. (i like painting 256's)
