Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any good references or tutorials on how to make hand painted textures like you see in Blizzard games. I want to know how to manipulate your textures using normal map channels and masks in photoshop. Im familiar with the concepts just every time I try to do it i feel like i am missing something. Any tutorials or workflows would be extremely helpful.

For the manipulation: Normal map has solid details in it, just change color to black and you are good to go. Channels change the amount of "displacement" in each direction. You can change them in one of the adjustment settings (like RGB curves) just by changing from RGB to specific channel.
