Hello there,
I made these realtime characters in my freetime for portfolio stuff in 3dsmax, Zbrush, Photoshop, and the final presentation in Unity.
The Unity code and rendering was done by
David Miranda http://www.davidmiranda.me/
This was an awesome favor for me, thank you bud
. He used his custom written shaders on them.
2 textures for the body, 1 for the head, 1 for the hairs, 1 for the weapon /character.
Posed them in Zbrush.

Some highpoly renders done in Keyshot, and made some
turntables with it,

thank you haha, originally this is not the head what i originally wanted, so the teeth came from the previous head version, and i didnt want to make new teeth, and kinda liked this look
The LOWPOLY posing process above in gif... I posed bipeds in 3ds max first in that pose what i wanted, imported into zbrush, and then used the transpose tools.. the highpoly poses were a bit trickier... i exported the actual highpoly subtool's lowest subdiv level to 3ds max with GOZ, skinwrapped to the already posed lowpoly mesh with morpher modifier on the t-posed lowpoly mesh ( this has the posed lowpoly morpher target), and GOZ back the posed highpoly mesh to zbrush... and made this all on the hundreds of subtools...
Ive always wondered, how does one retop over beard? I understand its like any foilage/plane baking but is there a knack to it other then drawing random places in different directions and seeing what you can pick up? or is there a way to turn those hairs into planes automatically within zbrush?
for the beard, no real trick for this or any foliage baking stuff... i made 3-4-5 individual alpha plane, and scattered them around the face by hand, one-by-one.. i dont know better solution for this but im all ears
Love all the little details!
dustinbrown, im glad you noticed that it was one of the goals
