Which 3D software is best for design and visualization.

I'm 2D artist interest to use 3d software to design my illustration simply I want to create rough 3D base then draw and paint over it.
Mainly use for environment design I want to pan the camera on the scence with rough model and simple lighting.
Which software would best suite for this kind of task ?
Right now I'm looking into blender since it is free but the modeling process is seem to very slow compare to my drawing skill
or I have to use sculpting software like zbrush or 3d coat would be faster still confusing which one you will recommened
