Some concepts I did for our FMP.
3D THINGS
I felt like starting my venture into 3D with a hat for TF2, so I went for a sharky riot helmet thing (which I've since decided I want to make into some kind of Aqua Pack).
I did a concept, tried to make it in zBrush, made a real hash of it, exported and re-topologised it, then spent ages fixing all the problems I had made for myself.
So yeah, that is where I'm at so far. I need to change the size of the helmet and give a bit more curvature on the visor before I give UVing a go, because I don't like the way it looks from the front.
I also need to reduce the poly count on it.
If anyone could point where I'm going wrong along the way, let me know

Alismuffin & Callesw - Thanks guys!
So yeah, here you go. Mostly finished Sharkhelm.
I'll do a pretty layout at some point , you know one of those official looking posters that all the big boys and girls are doing.
I've started modeling Neptune's Judgement (below).
I'm going to find some jigglebone tutorials, preferably for maya.
also the shark helmet looks awesome
such a cool idea
keep posting
Here's a ref study I finished up in the week.
Few bits are off, but hey ho.
Been away from the 3D stuff recently, but I'm now back on the TF2 bits, which I'll post some updates for soon.
Also, what are the 'rules' on cross-posting on polycount?
look forward to seeing that trident!!
cheers mate
Think the most recent things I've been doing are another ref study, helping someone do a website, some (I shit you not) drawing from imagination and doing the LODs for this.
Which I will hopefully tie up soon.
Rollingman, where is your sketchbook?

Been away a while. Some older bits first.
Now some newer bits.
I had been reading through Eliot Goldfinger's Human Anatomy for Artists, and decided it was a good time to knuckle down and get familiar with it.

I basically studied each page in the book, and colour coded it all for each bone/muscle, to help reinforce it. There was a lot of repetition, which actually helped a lot.
Can't remember all the names, but I feel like I've got a reasonable map in my head now.
I've now returned to a character project which I started pre-Goldfinger, which I'll start posting updates for. Probably over next few days.
Doing a study of Arby, from Utopia (the Channel 4 series). Here's his jacket.
For ref:
Little process gif for lace.
And quick test at the weekend to try out skin in Marmoset.
(Yeah ignore the inside finger whoopsies).
Went back to detail the shoes. Will get the unwrapping done, then do the lace from there.
Alpha for the bit nobody is likely to see. Tried to figure out which brand he wears, a friend said they were a bit like Hi-Tecs, so hey, went with that.
Did try hair planes, but didn't have anywhere near enough coverage. So will probably have to experiment with that.
Any thoughts appreciated. Will probably add my own a bit later.
Still playing around at the minute, face isn't going where I want it yet. Thought I'd give Marvelous Designer a blast too.
Anatomy is just a quick job at the minute, but hopefully proportions are ok (going for around 8 years old-ish).
As mentioned in WAYWO, can't decide how I'm doing with her face. I'm not looking for feminine per se - but if I have completely missed the mark (gender-wise), feedback appreciated .
Although I'm a bit annoyed at how long it's taken me to finish the high-poly, I did get most of the low-poly done whilst I was floundering. And still waaaaay quicker than my first character, so woohoo.
Turns out I've no idea how big cigarettes are either (̅_̅_̅(̅(̅_̅_̅_̅_̅_̅̅() ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Some hair wireframes.
So if I'm understanding your nappy headed hair approach correctly:
1) Braids are physical tubes.
2) Roots are conical meshes flaring out to the surface of the scalp.
3) Silhouette broken up with randomly placed hair cards to get that fuzz.
4) How'd you paint the textures for the braids?
Brian: 1,2,3 - yep!
4 - For the dreads/braids I started off loosely following Pablander's Fibermesh Dreadlocks tutorial, but only took one of the largest tubes to fibermesh/polypaint stage and baked that alone. Unwrapped the others and stacked all their shells on top / within the bounds of that first one.
I just kind of hoped hiding the seams underneath and making it as messy as possible would bring it together somehow. The none-wire shots have some tessellation too, mind.
your work is amazing and would like too have you apart of my devlopment team. Would like too speak with you my email is Riseninnovationproj&gmail thank you
Been finishing up the pedestal.
Just need to finish posing character, tweak a few things and then I'm pretty much done with this project. Woot.
Bashed up something I plan to go along the lines of:
Main aims I guess are:
- Speed up my workflow
- Practice aged / wrinkled skin
- Some animal anatomy
- Learn to use Substance
- Improve my metals / hard surface
- Experiment with beards and fur
Will start blocking it out this week. Excited to get started.
