Hob: Fan Art

Hey PC,

Trying to create the main character from the game Hob by the people over at Runic. Love the art style, and the fact that the game is based on exploration and discovery, something I find severely lacking in games these days. In the gameplay I've seen, he uses a grappling hook on his arm, so I switched it up with a retractable shield. (as I believe his sword is also retractable)

it's cute! Only main crit' yet is the missing sense of scale. You have a big character, small trees, walking plateforms that aren't that big for the char to walk on, rocky pillars thing that look like the walking plateforms but scaled down, grass blade half as tall as trees, so all in all it is hard to read.
Are you going to add a black outline on the character like ingame ?

@Cremuss Thanks! I was considering adding a tree into the scene to help with scale. I'll also try making things bigger. The grass in game is meant to be pretty big. Haven't done black outlines before, but was going to look into doing so.

Played with the scale and adding a tree. Also applied Unity's toon shading for the outline.

Looks cute and simple, i also really like the character! maybe do some kind of shading on the textures of it ?

Thanks SimaoSilva! Did a bit more texture work. Calling this final. I may revisit before the game comes out, as I've really enjoyed doing this. Onto the next project.
