3D Dwarf Hammer help

Hey guys,

So I am currently working on a high res Hammer.

But as I transition to working on the high res model I am struggling to find them best way to do the cloth wrapping around the handle.

I thought perhaps just taking the high res into zbrush and doing the cloth in there, or perhaps laying out the cloth with cylinders and then cleaning it up in zbrush?

Any ideas?

I think it's a lot faster if you just mask a group of rings around the handle in zbrush, extract them out, mask some in overlapping spots, do it again etc.
