Japan's Consumer Affairs Energy has reportedly decided that "kompu gacha," a common online game practice of rewarding players with a random virtual prize -- which can be a rare or ho-hum item -- after purchasing a set of goods, is illegal, according to The Daily Yomiuri.

GREE is a pretty large company out here in the Bay. Any concerns over this becoming a trend in other countries over games like TF2 who do give you random items when you buy something?
