How can I merge subtools seamlessly in ZBrush?

Hey there,

I have a bust that I've been working on and I'd like to add a full body to it using a basemesh or ZSpheres. The thing is my bust is 6 SubD levels and has polypaint on it. I've tried to use Merge Visible but it doesn't really combine the meshes - instead gives me a seam that I cannot get rid of. Is there a way to merge geometry without having to retopologize the whole thing? Is Dynamesh the only way? Wouldn't want to lose all those subd levels and detail along with it..

You'd lose the subdivision levels, but you might be able to preserve the detail (high res + projection).

You could also try duplicating the sculpted detail, dynameshing at a lower rest, subdividing, and then using project all.
